Born in Santa Monica, CA in 1971, raised in Venice, CA and transplanted to Thousand Oaks in the mid ‘80’s, Danny Jones has drawn since he was able to hold a crayon. Also a graduate of Thousand Oaks High School, he is a lover of all things art and it shows in his compelling work. His pieces are based on iconic personalities throughout society. In some ways, Danny Jones continues on from where Andy Warhol left off. Combining multiple of his black silhouetted impressions derived from images throughout society’s pop-culture history. Layering those over colorful and/or patterned backgrounds that somehow speaks of that particular time or lends to the message being conveyed. Or to the subject matter itself. Combining the two to create an interesting and moving view. Being raised in a coastal community such as Venice, CA really shows in his “mural-style” pieces which consist of several different mediums. Also a music lover and local musician himself for the past 30 years, Danny Jones makes that very apparent in his choices of subject matter
